اخبار روز: ده ها تن از مدیران و دانشگاهیان سرشناس جهان با امضای نامه ای نگرانی خود را نسبت به وضعیت دانشگاه های ایران اعلام کرده اند. متن این نامه و امضاهای آن در ادامه آمده است:

ما استادان و مدیران دانشگاههای مختلف جهان نگرانی عمیق خود را از وضعیت وخیم دانشگاههای ایران٬ به ویژه پس ازانتخابات اخیر رئیس جمهوری ابراز می داریم. تمامی شواهد برآن است که مقامات دولتی در گیر سرکوبی عمده در دانشگاههای ایران هستند و قصد دارند که آزادی های آکادمیک را از این هم بیشتر زیر پا گذارند.
ما دلائل و شواهدی داریم که استادان و دانشجویان در خطر جدی هستند. به خوابگاههای دانشجوئی حمله شده٬ و تعدادی از استادان از جمله رئیس سابق دانشگاه تهران٬ دکتر محمد ملکی٬ دستگیر و زندانی شده اند. وحشت دانشگاه های کشور را فرا گرفته که «انقلاب فرهنگی» جدیدی٬ با عواقبی فاجعه بار مشابه انقلاب فرهنگی اول٬ در بهار ١٩٨٠ در راه است. چنین اقدامی به اخراج هزاران استاد و دانشجو که مخالف سیاست های سرکوب گرانه ی رژیم هستند منجر شده٬ و دانشگاههای ایران بیش از پیش از استاندارد های آکادمیک و فعالیت های علمی تهی خواهند شد.
ندا هائی سر داده می شود که باید «علوم انسانی» با نظارت روحانیون مورد بازبینی قرار گیرد و دانشکده ها برای صدور مدارک قلابی برای اشخاص بی صلاحیتی وا بسته به مقامات با نفوذ٬ تحت فشار قرار می گیرند. همکاران ما بطور دائم تحت مراقبت و کنترل واحد های متعدد امنیتی و اطلاعاتی که در محوطه های دانشگاهها فعالند٬ قرار دارند٬ و دانشجویان کماکان در معرض سیستم سرکوبگر «ستاره دار شدن» و خطر اخراج از دانشگاهها هستند.
